Woodbine recently presented its inaugural Big Dreams Award scholarship to Sarah Elizabeth Rierson, an East Forsyth High School graduate.“The world of marketing and advertising is an outstanding career path for young people with big dreams, and Sarah absolutely fits that bill,” said Peter Mitchell, Woodbine President & CEO.
The Woodbine Big Dreams Award was established to inspire the next generation of creative thinkers, writers and commercial artists in Forsyth County, NC. Each year the award will go to a high school senior who demonstrates outstanding potential, as well as an intention to pursue a college major in communications, graphic design, journalism, public relations or digital media.
Sarah was chosen for her aspirations in these areas, as well as for the tremendous leadership she displayed throughout her high school career.
A member of the varsity cheerleading squad at East Forsyth, Sarah was also vice president of the Leading Ladies service club and a member of numerous honor societies, including the National Latin Honor Society, National Honor Society and Crosby Scholars. Sarah has played violin for seven years, four as a member of the school orchestra. She volunteers for Pfafftown Baptist church and wrote a silver medal-winning essay for the Optimist Club about her service experience.
This fall, Sarah will attend UNC-Chapel Hill’s School of Journalism and Mass Communication. We look forward to seeing the future accomplishments of this talented young lady. Congratulations, Sarah!
